Rhyme Scheme: ABBCCB DEFEGHCBCBBIJJIKKIBB LL DEFE BBBCCB

As I lie roofed in screened inA
From the pattering rainB
The summer rainB
As I lieC
Snug and dryC
And hear the birds complainB
-
Oh billow on billowD
Oh roar on roarE
Over me washF
The seas of warE
Over me down downG
Lunges and plungesH
The huge gun with its one blind eyeC
The armored trainB
And swooping out of the skyC
The aeroplaneB
Down downB
The army proudly swingingI
Under gay flagsJ
The glorious dead heaped up like ragsJ
A church with bronze bells ringingI
A city all towersK
Gardens of lovers and flowersK
The round world swingingI
In the light of the sunB
All broken undoneB
All down underL
Black surges of thunderL
-
Oh billow on billowD
Oh roar on roarE
Over me washF
The seas of warE
-
As I lie roofed in screened inB
From the pattering rainB
The summer rainB
As I lieC
Snug and dryC
And hear the birds complainB
