Flowers grow in the grassA
Baby footfalls passA
Over the fields once redB
Over the hero's headB
For PeaceC
-
The earth through her leafy veilD
Whispers a magic taleD
And the scholar reads in the clodB
The latest news of GodB
For PeaceC
-
Brave little wires are spunE
For voices to fly uponF
Words out of clouds are caughtB
From some witch's woof of thoughtB
For PeaceC
And the cataract's foamy troublesG
Illumine a million bubblesG
In some city far awayH
Turning the night to dayH
For PeaceC
-
Proud trains heralds austereI
Bring far off nations nearI
Piercing the mountain's crownJ
Treading the barriers downJ
For PeaceC
-
Swift ships that pound the seaK
Set the earth chained spirit freeK
Show the whole round world unrolledH
Before the young moon grows oldH
For PeaceC
-
And the white winged aeroplaneJ
Laughs in its mad disdainJ
At limits and barricadesL
And cruisers and cavalcadesL
For PeaceL
-
Even the war engines dreadH
The guns with bomb shells fedH
The grim gray battle shipsL
Shout through their iron lipsL
For PeaceL
-
Oh never a hero's graveM
But for Peace his life he gaveM
And the warrior bears his scarN
And the poet sings of warO
For PeaceL
