After Sunset Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABAB CDCDED FGFHIH

The forest was a shrine for herA
A temple richly dressedB
And worshippers the tall trees wereA
Each to his prayer addressedB
Scarce dared I lift my eyes or stirA
So deeply was I blessedB
-
She took to herself the waning dayC
Like a round twilight moonD
Serenely rising far awayC
A silvery moon of JuneD
That whiter than the morning isE
And fairer than the noonD
-
The dim world darkened round her allF
Was night save where she shoneG
Save where she stood so slim and smallF
The shadowed earth uponH
As though the earth were new and sheI
Would light its fires anonH
