Fit for perpetual worship is the powerB
That holds our bodies safely to the earthC
-
When people talk of their domestic godsD
Then privately I think of YouE
-
We ride through space upon your shouldersF
Conveniently and lightly setG
And so accustomed we relax our holdH
Forget the gentle motion of your bodyI
But You do not forgetG
-
Sometimes you breathe a little fasterB
Or move a muscleJ
Then we remember you O MasterB

-
When people meet in reverent groupsK
And sing to their domestic GodL
You all the time dear tyrant How I laughM
Could without effort place your hand among themN
And sprinkle them about the desertO
-
But all your ways are carefully orderedP
For you have never questioned dutyI
We watch your everlasting combinationsQ
We call them Fate we turn them to our pleasureB
And when they most delight us call them beautyI

-
I rest my body on your grassR
And let my brain repose in youE
I feel these living moments passR
And from within myself to those far placesS
To be imagined in your times and spacesS
Deliberate the various acts you doE
-
Sorting and re arranging worlds of MatterB
Keenly and wisely Thus you brought our earthC
Through stages and from purpose back to purposeT
From fire to fog to dust to birthC
Through beast to man who led himself to brainU
Then you invoked him back to dust againV
-
By leave of you he places stone on stoneW
He scatters seed you are at once the propX
Among the long roots of his fragile cropX
You manufacture for him and insureY
House harvest implement and furnitureB
And hold them all secureY

The hill The trees From underneathZ
I feel You pull me with your handA2
Through my firm feet up to my heartB2
You hold me You are in the landA2
Reposing underneath the hillC2
-
You keep my balance and my growthD2
I lift a foot but where I goE2
You follow you the ever strongF2
Control the smallest thing I doE
-
I have some little human powerB
To turn your purpose to my endG2
For which I thank you every hourB
I stand at worship while you sendG2
Thrills up my body to my heartB2
And I am all in love to knowE2
How by your strength you keep me partB2
Of earth which cannot let me goE2
How everything I see aroundH2
Whether it can or cannot moveM
Is granted liberty of groundH2
And freedom to enjoy your loveM
-
Though you are silent always and aloneW
To You yourself your power remains unknownW
