I would like today again as in the pastA
to get down to dad's feetB
while the FM'radio loud soundC
himself would woke the deadD
as you share stories from your far pastA
dust and breathE
while father's fully worked handsF
quietly carving a biltongG
-
but heaven's tiki box'sF
line is deadD
Dad with your wooden coatH
under the lilac treeI
on your benchJ
Dad I miss your Gray blue eyesF
your soft heartK
but the memory clings to my heartK
-
your sins thrown to vanityI
served your liquor bottled jailL
all i can say is i miss youM
-
I wish you were thereN
in times that my heart weepsF
I drive past and look for youM
but that porch is emptyI
I see you everywhereN
in every rustleO
I remember your tooth marksF
in the butterP
and your black sweet coffeeI
eclairs and suckersF
-
your feet were made of clayQ
there was silver in your dark crownR
but there were rays of sun in your heartK
because you made me believe I'm strongG
you made me believe I'm a fairy princessF
you wiped my tearsF
you made me believe I'm worthyI
you made me believe i was lovedS
-
everyday I want to say PapsF
thank you for all that dad gaveT
even though life was sometimes too much for dadU
thank you for teaching me so much from DadU
because even in all of Dad's mistakesF
father's tears were sometimes too muchV
I miss you my DadU
I would like to say I love youM
I release you be your very best selfW
