Thanksgiving Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BACA DEFE BGBG HIJI GKLK MNON NGNP QRHC HSTS TUVU

Nov during the great financial depressionA
-
-
Father our thanks are due to theeB
For many a blessing givenA
By thy paternal love and careC
From the bounty horn of heavenA
-
We know that still that horn is filledD
With blessings for our raceE
And we calmly look thro' winter's stormF
To thy benignant faceE
-
Father we raise our thanks to TheeB
Who seldom thanked beforeG
And seldom bent the stubborn kneeB
Thy goodness to adoreG
-
But Father thou hast blessings pouredH
On all our wayward daysI
And now thy mercies manifoldJ
Have filled our hearts with praiseI
-
The winter storm may rack and roarG
We do not fear its blastK
And we'll bear with faith and fortitudeL
The lot that thou hast castK
-
But Father Father O look downM
On the poor and homeless headN
And feed the hungry thousandsO
That cry to thee for breadN
-
Thou givest us our daily breadN
We would not ask for moreG
But Father give their daily breadN
To the multitudes of poorP
-
In all the cities of the landQ
The naked and hungry areR
O feed them with thy manna LordH
And clothe them with thy careC
-
Thou dost not give a serpent LordH
We will not give a stoneS
For the bread and meat thou givest usT
Are not for us aloneS
-
And while a loaf is given to usT
From thy all bounteous hornU
We'll cheerfully divide that loafV
With the hungry and forlornU
