My Father-land Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBBAA ACCCAAADDDDD DEFEDD DDDDDD DGGGDD

Where is the minstrel's Father landA
Where the sparks of noble spirits flewB
Where flowery wreaths for beauty grewB
Where strong hearts glowed so glad and trueB
For all things sacred good and grandA
There was my Father landA
-
How named the minstrel's Father landA
O'er slaughtered son 'neath tyrants' yokesC
She weepeth now and foreign strokesC
They called her once the Land of OaksC
Land of the Free the German LandA
Thus was called my Father landA
Why weeps the minstrel's Father landA
Because while tyrant's tempest hailedD
The people's chosen princes quailedD
And all their sacred pledges failedD
Because she could no ear commandD
Alas must weep my Father landD
-
Whom calls the minstrel's Father landD
She calls on heaven with wild alarmE
With desperation's thunder stormF
On Liberty to bare her armE
On Retribution's vengeful handD
On these she calls my Father landD
-
What would the minstrel's Father landD
She would strike the base slaves to the groundD
Chase from her soil the tyrant houndD
And free her sons in shackles boundD
Or lay them free beneath her sandD
That would my Father landD
-
And hopes the minstrel's Father landD
She hopes for holy Freedom's sakeG
Hopes that her true sons will awakeG
Hopes that just God will vengeance takeG
And ne'er mistakes the Avenger's handD
Thereon relies my Father landD
