Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGGHIIJKELFMNKI MOPQRSKTLLUJ V

To be in loveA
Is to touch with a lighter handB
In yourself you stretch you are wellC
You look at thingsD
Through his eyesE
A cardinal is redF
A sky is blueG
Suddenly you know he knows tooG
He is not there butH
You know you are tasting togetherI
The winter or a light spring weatherI
His hand to take your hand is overmuchJ
Too much to bearK
You cannot look in his eyesE
Because your pulse must not sayL
What must not be saidF
When heM
Shuts a doorN
Is not thereK
Your arms are waterI
And you are freeM
With a ghastly freedomO
You are the beautiful halfP
Of a golden hurtQ
You remember and covet his mouthR
To touch to whisper onS
Oh when to declareK
Is certain DeathT
Oh when to apprizeL
Is to mesmerizeL
To see fall down the Column of GoldU
Into the commonest ashJ
