Rhyme Scheme: AB CDECFGHIJ K KFLKK KKKKMCNJKJOK PKK

A riot is the language of the unheardA
martin luther kingB
-
John Cabot out of Wilma once a WycliffeC
all whitebluerose below his golden hairD
wrapped richly in right linen and right woolE
almost forgot his Jaguar and Lake BluffC
almost forgot Grandtully which is TheF
Best Thing That Ever Happened To Scotch almostG
forgot the sculpture at the Richard GrayH
and Distelheim the kidney pie at Maxim sI
the Grenadine de Boeuf at Maison HenriJ
-
Because the Negroes were coming down the streetK
-
Because the Poor were sweaty and unprettyK
not like Two Dainty Negroes in WinnetkaF
and they were coming toward him in rough ranksL
In seas In windsweep They were black and loudK
And not detainable And not discreetK
-
Gross Gross Que tu es grossier John CabotK
itched instantly beneath the nourished whiteK
that told his story of glory to the WorldK
Don t let It touch me the blackness Lord he whisperedK
to any handy angel in the skyM
But in a thrilling announcement on It droveC
and breathed on him and touched him In that breathN
the fume of pig foot chitterling and cheap chiliJ
malign mocked John And in terrific touch oldK
averted doubt jerked forward decentlyJ
cried Cabot John You are a desperate manO
and the desperate die expensively todayK
-
John Cabot went down in the smoke and fireP
and broken glass and blood and he cried LordK
Forgive these nigguhs that know not what they doK
