The heavens beheld the beauty of my queenA
And all amazed to wonder thus beganB
Why dotes not Jove as erst we all have seenA
And shapes himself like to a seemly manB
Mean are the matches which he sought beforeC
Like bloomless buds too base to make compareD
And she alone hath treasured beauty's storeC
In whom all gifts and princely graces areE
Cupid replied I posted with the sunF
To view the maids that liv d in those daysG
And none there was that might not well be wonF
But she most hard most cold made of delaysG
Heavens were deceived and wrong they do esteemH
She hath no heat although she living seemH
