Rhyme Scheme: ABCC DDEE FFGH IIJJ KKLL MMNN OOPP QQKK RRSS| In the shadow of wealth where silence dwells | A |
| A poor man speaks but his words repel | B |
| No crown of gold no robe of fame | C |
| His wisdom drowned his voice a flame | C |
| - | |
| To those beneath him he's but a jest | D |
| A hollow drum a man suppressed | D |
| Confidence wears the guise of pride | E |
| And truth when spoken is cast aside | E |
| - | |
| The night is long its darkness deep | F |
| Where dreams are buried and hearts must weep | F |
| Yet even night must yield to dawn | G |
| And wealth like tides moves on and on | H |
| - | |
| The moonlight fades and shadows break | I |
| The world transforms as mornings wake | I |
| So too does fortune shift its course | J |
| As droughts give way to rivers' force | J |
| - | |
| Unbalanced life a pendulum swings | K |
| From paupers rise the hearts of kings | K |
| For poverty like a fleeting shade | L |
| Can birth the strength that riches fade | L |
| - | |
| His hands though calloused build their walls | M |
| Yet none will heed his earnest calls | M |
| But time unyielding will have its say | N |
| As night surrenders to the day | N |
| - | |
| His knowledge blooms in the soil of strife | O |
| Each word a pearl a piece of life | O |
| Though pearls are lost in the muck of disdain | P |
| The day will cleanse where storms have lain | P |
| - | |
| Oh cruel the world that weighs a man | Q |
| By coins and riches he does not span | Q |
| Yet nature knows what balance brings | K |
| From barren nests take flight new wings | K |
| - | |
| So let him rise though scorned ignored | R |
| With every step his spirit restored | R |
| For one day soon his voice will sing | S |
| And echo loud as truth s own ring | S |
