The Great Minimum Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GFHFH IJIJ FKFL

It is something to have wept as we have weptA
It is something to have done as we have doneB
It is something to have watched when all men sleptA
And seen the stars which never see the sunB
-
It is something to have smelt the mystic roseC
Although it break and leave the thorny rodsD
It is something to have hungered once as thoseC
Must hunger who have ate the bread of godsD
-
To have seen you and your unforgotten faceE
Brave as a blast of trumpets for the frayF
Pure as white lilies in a watery spaceE
It were something though you went from me todayF
-
To have known the things that from the weak areG
furledF
Perilous ancient passions strange and highH
It is something to be wiser then the worldF
It is something to be older then the skyH
-
In a time of sceptic moths and cynic rustsI
And fattened lives that of their sweetness tireJ
In a world of flying loves and fading lustsI
It is something to be sure of a desireJ
-
Lo blessed are our ears for they have heardF
Yea blessed are our eyes for they have seenK
Let the thunder break on man and beast and birdF
And the lightning It is something to have beenL
