Twilight. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFGF AHAH IJIJ KLKL MNMN

The sun is sinking where the western hillsA
The vision bounds with rugged summits oldB
And with his latest beam he brightly gildsA
And crowns with amethyst and goldB
-
The distant music of a tinkling bellC
Is floating o'er the meadow's gentle sweepD
No discords mar the magic of the spellC
And stealthily the twilight shadows creepD
-
And gently falls upon the listening earE
Like tones from voices of the long agoF
The cadence of the murmuring waters nearG
With rhythmic ripplings soft and lowF
-
Now grow apace the shadows' slanting shapesA
And fade the rugged hills to misty grayH
As dying day its calm departure takesA
And yields to coming night her sable swayH
-
The vaulted dome above now glows afarI
With many a soft and tender lightJ
Each sparkling gem it wears a jeweled starI
With sweet effulgence purely brightJ
-
Sweet scene Sweet hour If to the heartK
No quick'ning pulses they can lendL
And to the soul no rapture thus impartK
Vain were our lives and vainer still the endL
-
O such the time when he who will may feelM
Release from care vexation toil and strifeN
And musing then will gently o'er him stealM
The sweetest moments of the turmoil lifeN
