The benefactor of his race | D |
His noble soul from avarice free | E |
By heaven lent the sordid earth to grace | D |
A nation's tears sincerely shed for thee | E |
- | |
Thrice blest the one in lowly lot | F |
Contented with an humble place | D |
Who by thy noble heart was ne'er forgot | F |

- | |
Oh thus too early snatched away | G |
From generous act and loving deed | H |
Thousands will now deplore the day | G |
Thousands now whose hearts will bleed | H |

With tears we'll water flowers that never fade | J |
