A Legend Of The Dove Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IBJB

Soft from the linden's boughA
Unmoved against the tranquil afternoonB
Eve's dove laments her nowA
Ah gone long gone shall not I find thee soonB
-
That yearning in his voiceC
Told not to Paradise a sorrow's taleD
As other birds rejoiceC
He sang a brother to the nightingaleD
-
By twilight on her breastE
He saw the flower sleep the star awakeF
And calling her from restE
Made all the dawn melodious for her sakeF
-
And then the Tempter's breathG
The sword of exile and the mortal chainH
The heritage of deathG
That gave her heart to dust his own to painH
-
In Eden desolateI
The seraph heard his lonely music swoonB
As now reiterateJ
Ah gone long gone shall not I find thee soonB
