Heigh ho for a husband Heigh hoA
There's danger in longer delayB
Shall I never again have a beauA
Will nobody marry me prayB
I begin to feel strange I declareC
With beauty my prospects will fadeD
I'd give myself up to despairC
If I thought I should die an old maidD

I once cut the beaux in a huffE
I thought it a sin and a shameF
That no one had spirit enoughE
To ask me to alter my nameF
So I turned up my nose at the shortG
And cast down my eyes at the tallH
But then I just did it in sportG
And now I've no lover at allH
-
These men are the plague of my lifeI
'Tis hard from so many to chooseJ
Should any one wish for a wifeI
Could I have the heart to refuseJ
I don't know for none have proposedK
Oh dear me I'm frightened I vowL
Good gracious who ever supposedK
That I should be single till nowL
