Western Refrain Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDBDEFEGHGEG ABCIJIJEFEGHGEG

Droop not brothersA
As we goB
O'er the mountainsC
Under the boughs of mistletoeB
Log huts we'll rearD
While herds of deer and buffaloB
Furnish the cheerD
File o'er the mountains steady boysE
For game afarF
We have our rifles ready boysE
AhaG
Throw care to the windsH
Like chaff boys haG
And join in the laugh boysE
Hah hah hahG
-
Cheer up brothersA
As we goB
O'er the mountainsC
When we've wood and prairie landI
Won by our toilJ
We'll reign like kings in fairy landI
Lords of the soilJ
Then westward ho in legions boysE
Fair Freedom's starF
Points to her sunset regions boysE
AhaG
Throw care to the windsH
Like chaff boys haG
And join in the laugh boysE
Hah hah hahG
