To The Evening Star Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCCC CDCDECFC CGCGHIHI

The woods waved welcome in the breezeA
When many years agoB
Lured by the songs of birds and beesA
I sought the dell belowB
And there in that secluded spotC
Where silver streamlets rovedC
Twined the green ivy round the cotC
Of her I fondly lovedC
-
In dreams still near that porch I standC
To listen to her vowD
Still feel the pressure of her handC
Upon my burning browD
And here as in the days gone byE
With joy I meet her yetC
And mark the love light of her eyesF
Fringed with its lash of jetC
-
O fleeting vision of the pastC
From memory glide awayG
Ye were too beautiful to lastC
Too good to longer stayG
But why attesting evening starH
This sermon sad recallI
THAN LOVE AND LOSE 'TIS BETTER FARH
TO NEVER LOVE AT ALLI
