Thou Hast Woven The Spell Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDE FGFGDHHH

Thou hast woven the spell that hath bound meA
Through all the sad changes of yearsB
And the smiles that I wore when I found theeA
Have faded and melted in tearsC
Like the poor wounded fawn from the mountainD
That seeks out the clear silver tideE
I have lingered in vain at the fountainD
Of hope with a shaft in my sideE
-
Thou hast taught me that Love's rosy fettersF
A pang from the thorns may impartG
That the coinage of vows and of lettersF
Comes not from the mint of the heartG
Like the lone bird that flutters her pinionD
And warbles in bondage her strainH
I have struggled to fly thy domainH
But find that the struggle is vainH
