The Missing Ship Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGI JKJKLMLM

She left the port in gallant styleA
With sails and streamers full and freeB
I watched her course for many a mileA
Far out upon the distant seaB
At dusk she lessened to a speckC
And then I could not trace her moreD
Sad hearts were beating on her deckC
Sad hearts were beating on the shoreD
-
Two of the outward bound I knewE
One beautiful the other braveF
The master worthy and the crewE
Born to contend with wind and waveF
For travel some and some for gainG
And some for health had gone abroadH
Our prayers were with them on the mainG
God speed the ship and all on boardI
-
That vessel never reached the landJ
No tidings of her ever cameK
Those who beheld her leave the strandJ
For years in anguish heard her nameK
And even now in vain they tryL
To breathe it with a tranquil lipM
Or hide the moisture of the eyeL
While speaking of that missing shipM
