Starlight Recollections Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJKJLMLM

'Twas night Near the murmuring SaoneA
We met with no witnesses byB
But such as resplendently shoneA
In the blue tinted vault of the skyB
Your head on my bosom was laidC
As you said you would ever be mineD
And I promised to love dearest maidC
And worship alone at your shrineD
-
Your love on my heart gently fellE
As the dew on the flowers at eveF
Whose blossoms with gratitude swellE
A blessing to give and receiveF
And I knew by the glow on your cheekG
And the rapture you could not controlH
No power had language to speakG
The faith or content of your soulH
-
I love you as none ever lovedI
As the steel to the star I am trueJ
And I dearest maiden have provedK
That none ever loved me but youJ
Till memory loses her powerL
Or the sands of existence have runM
I'll remember the star lighted hourL
That mingled two hearts into oneM
