St. Agnes' Shrine Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGAGA HBHBIAIA

While before St Agnes' shrineA
Knelt a true knight's lady loveB
From the wars of PalestineA
Came a gentle carrier doveB
Round his neck a Silken stringC
Fastened words the warrior writD
At her call he stooped his wingC
And upon her finger litD
-
She like one enchanted poredE
O'er the contents of the scrollF
For that lady loved her lordE
With a pure devoted soulF
To her heart her dove she drewG
While she traced the burning lineA
Then away his minion flewG
Back to sainted PalestineA
-
To and fro from hand to handH
Came and went a carrier doveB
Till throughout the Holy LandH
War resigned his sword to LoveB
Swift her dove on wings of lightI
Brought the news from PalestineA
And the lady her true knightI
Wedded at St Agnes' shrineA
