She Loved Him Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCE FGFGHBHB IJIJKLMN

She loved him but she heeded notA
Her heart had only room for prideB
All other feelings were forgotA
When she became another's brideB
As from a dream she then awokeC
To realize her lonely stateD
And own it was the vow she brokeC
That made her drear and desolateE
-
She loved him but the sland'rer cameF
With words of hate that all believedG
A stain thus rested on his nameF
But he was wronged and she deceivedG
Ah rash the act that gave her handH
That drove her lover from her sideB
Who hied him to a distant landH
Where battling for a name he diedB
-
She loved him and his memory nowI
Was treasured from the world apartJ
The calm of thought was on her browI
The seeds of death were in her heartJ
For all the world that thing forlornK
I would not could not be and liveL
That casket with its jewel goneM
A bride who has no heart to giveN
