Near The Lake Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAABABA CACADADA CACAEAEA

Near the lake where drooped the willowA
Long time agoA
Where the rock threw back the billowA
Brighter than snowA
Dwelt a maid beloved and cherishedB
By high and lowA
But with autumn's leaf she perishedB
Long time agoA
-
Rock and tree and flowing waterC
Long time agoA
Bee and bird and blossom taught herC
Love's spell to knowA
While to my fond words she listenedD
Murmuring lowA
Tenderly her dove eyes glistenedD
Long time agoA
-
Mingled were our hearts for everC
Long time agoA
Can I now forget her NeverC
No lost one noA
To her grave these tears are givenE
Ever to flowA
She's the star I missed from heavenE
Long time agoA
