Mary Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDADAA AEFEGHIAJ AKLKMNMAN AOPQRSRAS

One balmy summer night MaryA
Just as the risen moonB
Had thrown aside her fleecy veilC
We left the gay saloonB
And in a green sequestered spotD
Beneath a drooping treeA
Fond words were breathed by you forgotD
That still are dear to me MaryA
That still are dear to meA
-
Oh we were happy then MaryA
Time lingered on his wayE
To crowd a lifetime in a nightF
Whole ages in a dayE
If star and sun would set and riseG
Thus in our after yearsH
The world would be a paradiseI
And not a vale of tears MaryA
And not a vale of tearsJ
-
I live but in the past MaryA
The glorious day of oldK
When love was hoarded in the heartL
As misers hoard their goldK
And often like a bridal trainM
To music soft and lowN
The by gone moments cross my brainM
In all their summer glow MaryA
In all their summer glowN
-
These visions form and fade MaryA
As age comes stealing onO
To bring the light and leave the shadeP
Of days for ever goneQ
The poet's brow may wear at lastR
The bays that round it fallS
But love has rose buds of the pastR
Far dearer than them all MaryA
Far dearer than them allS
