Land-ho! Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCAA DEFFGGAA HHIIJJAA

UP UP WITH THE SIGNAL The land is in sightA
We'll be happy if never again boys to nightA
The cold cheerless ocean in safety we've passedB
And the warm genial earth glads our vision at lastB
In the land of the stranger true hearts we shall findC
To soothe us in absence of those left behindC
Land land ho All hearts glow with joy at the sightA
We'll be happy if never again boys to nightA
-
THE SIGNAL IS WAVING Till morn we'll remainD
Then part in the hope to meet one day againE
Round the hearth stone of home in the land of our birthF
The holiest spot on the face of the earthF
Dear country our thoughts are as constant to theeG
As the steel to the star or the stream to the seaG
Ho land ho We near it We bound at the sightA
Then be happy if never again boys to nightA
-
THE SIGNAL IS ANSWERED The foam sparkles riseH
Like tears from the fountain of joy to the eyesH
May rain drops that fall from the storm clouds of careI
Melt away in the sun beaming smiles of the fairI
One health as chime gaily the nautical bellsJ
To woman God bless her wherever she dwellsJ
THE PILOT'S ON BOARD thank heaven all's rightA
So be happy if never again boys to nightA
