Janet Mcrea Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDEDEE AFAFGGHIHII

She heard the fight was overA
And won the wrath of fameB
When tidings from her loverA
With his good war steed cameB
To guard her safely to his tentC
The red men of the woods were sentC
They led her where sweet waters gushD
Under the pine tree boughE
The tomahawk is raised to crushD
'Tis buried in her browE
She sleeps beneath that pine tree nowE
-
Her broken hearted loverA
In hopeless conflict diedF
The forest leaves now coverA
That soldier and his brideF
The frown of the Great Spirit fellG
Upon the red men like a spellG
No more those waters slake their thirstH
Shadeless to them that treeI
O'er land and lake they roam accurstH
And in the clouds they seeI
Thy spirit unavenged McReaI
