In Memory Of Charles H. Sandford Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDE FGHGIJIJ

He died as he had lived belovedA
Without an enemy on earthB
In word and deed he breathed and movedC
The soul of honor and of worthB
His hand was open as the dayD
His bearing high his nature braveE
And when from life he passed awayD
Our hearts went with him to the graveE
-
What desolation filled our homeF
When death from us our treasure boreG
Oh for the better world to comeH
Where we shall meet to part no moreG
The hope of THAT sustains us nowI
In THAT we trust on bended kneeJ
While thus around his faded browI
We twine the wreath of memoryJ
