A Hero Of The Revolution Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFF GHGHII JKJKBL

Let not a tear be shedA
Of grief give not a tokenB
Although the silver threadA
And golden bowl be brokenB
A warrior lived a Christian diedC
Sorrow's forgotten in our prideC
-
Go bring his battle bladeD
His helmet and his plumeE
And be his trophies laidD
Beside him in the tombE
Where files of time marked veterans comeF
With martial tramp and muffled drumF
-
Give to the earth his frameG
To moulder and decayH
But not his deathless nameG
That can not pass awayH
In youth in manhood and in ageI
He dignified his country's pageI
-
Green be the willow boughJ
Above the swelling moundK
Where sleeps the hero nowJ
In consecrated groundK
Thy epitaph O DelavanB
God's noblest work an honest manL
