Love's Defeat Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACC DCDCC ECECC FCFCC

A thousand times I would have hopedA
A thousand times protestedB
But still as through the night I gropedA
My torch from me was wrestedC
and wrestedC
-
How often with a succoring cupD
Unto the hurt I hastedC
The wounded died ere I came upD
My cup was still untastedC
UntastedC
-
Of darkness wounds and harsh disdainE
Endured I ne'er repentedC
'T is not of these I would complainE
With these I were contentedC
ContentedC
-
Here lies the misery to feelF
No work of love completedC
In prayerless passion still to kneelF
And mourn and cry DefeatedC
DefeatedC
