Before The Snow Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHIH HJHJ

Autumn is gone through the blue woodlands bareA
Shatters the windy rain A thousand leavesB
Like birds that fly the mournful Northern airA
Flutter away from the old forest's eavesB
-
Autumn is gone as yonder silent rillC
Slow eddying o'er thick leaf heaps lately shedD
My spirit as I walk moves awed and stillC
By thronging fancies wild and wistful ledD
-
Autumn is gone alas how long agoE
The grapes were plucked and garnered was the grainF
How soon death settles on us and the snowE
Wraps with its white alike our graves our gainF
-
Yea autumn's gone Yet it robs not my moodG
Of that which makes moods dear some shoot of springH
Still sweet within me or thoughts of yonder woodI
We walked in memory's rare environingH
-
And though they die the seasons only takeH
A ruined substance All that's best remainsJ
In the essential vision that can makeH
One light for life love death their joys their painsJ
