The Dawning Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDE FEFEGGHI

Awake sad heart whom sorrow ever drownsA
Take up thine eyes which feed on earthB
Unfold thy forehead gathered into frownsA
Thy Saviour comes and with Him mirthB
Awake awakeC
And with a thankful heart His comforts takeC
But thou dost still lament and pine and cryD
And feel His death but not His victoryE
-
Arise sad heart if thou dost not withstandF
Christ's resurrection thine may beE
Do not by hanging down break from the handF
Which as it riseth raiseth theeE
Arise AriseG
And with His burial linen drie thine eyesG
Christ left His grave clothes that we might when griefH
Draws tears or blood not want a handkerchiefI
