Grief Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCACDEDEFGFGDHDHIIJO who will give me tears Come all ye springs | A |
Dwell in my head and eyes come clouds | B |
and rain | C |
My grief hath need of all the watery things | A |
That nature hath produced let every vein | C |
Suck up a river to supply mine eyes | D |
My weary weeping eyes too dry for me | E |
Unless they get new conduits new supplies | D |
To bear them out and with my state agree | E |
What are two shallow fords two little spouts | F |
Of a less world the greater is but small | G |
A narrow cupboard for my griefs and doubts | F |
Which want provision in the midst of all | G |
Verses ye are too fine a thing too wise | D |
For my rough sorrows cease be dumb and mute | H |
Give up your feet and running to mine eyes | D |
And keep your measures for some lover's lute | H |
Whose grief allows him music and a rhyme | I |
For mine excludes both measure tune and time | I |
Alas my God | J |
