Rhyme Scheme: AB CCDEDEFF DDGHGHGCC

Justum et tenacem propositi virumA
HOR 'Odes' iii IB
-
-
The man of firm and noble soulC
No factious clamours can controulC
No threat'ning tyrant's darkling browD
Can swerve him from his just intentE
Gales the warring waves which ploughD
By Auster on the billows spentE
To curb the Adriatic mainF
Would awe his fix'd determined mind in vainF
-
Aye and the red right arm of JoveD
Hurtling his lightnings from aboveD
With all his terrors there unfurl'dG
He would unmov'd unaw'd beholdH
The flames of an expiring worldG
Again in crashing chaos roll'dH
In vast promiscuous ruin hurl'dG
Might light his glorious funeral pileC
Still dauntless 'midst the wreck of earth he'd smileC
