To A Lady, On Being Asked My Reason For Quitting England In The Spring Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHIH

When Man expell'd from Eden's bowersA
A moment linger'd near the gateB
Each scene recall'd the vanish'd hoursA
And bade him curse his future fateB
-
But wandering on through distant climesC
He learnt to bear his load of griefD
Just gave a sigh to other timesC
And found in busier scenes reliefD
-
Thus Lady will it be with meE
And I must view thy charms no moreF
For while I linger near to theeE
I sigh for all I knew beforeF
-
In flight I shall be surely wiseG
Escaping from temptation's snareH
I cannot view my ParadiseI
Without the wish of dwelling thereH

George Gordon Lord Byron
