On This Day I Complete My Thirty-sixth Year Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFEG HIHI JKJK LMLM NONO PQPR SOSO TUVU WXWX

'Tis time this heart should be unmovedA
Since others it hath ceased to moveB
Yet though I cannot be belovedC
Still let me loveD
-
My days are in the yellow leafE
The flowers and fruits of love are goneF
The worm the canker and the griefE
Are mine aloneG
-
The fire that on my bosom preysH
Is lone as some volcanic isleI
No torch is kindled at its blazeH
A funeral pileI
-
The hope the fear the jealous careJ
The exalted portion of the painK
And power of love I cannot shareJ
But wear the chainK
-
But 'tis not thus and 'tis not hereL
Such thoughts should shake my soul nor nowM
Where glory decks the hero's bierL
Or binds his browM
-
The sword the banner and the fieldN
Glory and Greece around me seeO
The Spartan borne upon his shieldN
Was not more freeO
-
Awake not Greece she is awakeP
Awake my spirit Think through whomQ
Thy life blood tracks its parent lakeP
And then strike homeR
-
Tread those reviving passions downS
Unworthy manhood unto theeO
Indifferent should the smile or frownS
Of beauty beO
-
If thou regret'st thy youth why liveT
The land of honourable deathU
Is here up to the field and giveV
Away thy breathU
-
Seek out less often sought than foundW
A soldier's grave for thee the bestX
Then look around and choose thy groundW
And take thy restX
