Ode To His Lyre Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDDEFAAGGAAAAHHBCII JJKKGG

Translation From AnacreonA
-
-
I wish to tune my quivering lyreB
To deeds of fame and notes of fireC
To echo from its rising swellD
How heroes fought and nations fellD
When Atreus' sons advanc'd to warE
Or Tyrian Cadmus rov'd afarF
But still to martial strains unknownA
My lyre recurs to Love aloneA
Fir'd with the hope of future fameG
I seek some nobler Hero's nameG
The dying chords are strung anewA
To war to war my harp is dueA
With glowing strings the Epic strainA
To Jove's great son I raise againA
Alcides and his glorious deedsH
Beneath whose arm the Hydra bleedsH
All all in vain my wayward lyreB
Wakes silver notes of soft DesireC
Adieu ye Chiefs renown'd in armsI
Adieu the clang of War's alarmsI
To other deeds my soul is strungJ
And sweeter notes shall now be sungJ
My harp shall all its powers revealK
To tell the tale my heart must feelK
Love Love alone my lyre shall claimG
In songs of bliss and sighs of flameG
