Rhyme Scheme: A BBAAAACCBBDDAAEEEEFF EEGH

Translation From CatullusA
-
-
Equal to Jove that youth must beB
Greater than Jove he seems to meB
Who free from Jealousy's alarmsA
Securely views thy matchless charmsA
That cheek which ever dimpling glowsA
That mouth from whence such music flowsA
To him alike are always knownC
Reserv'd for him and him aloneC
Ah Lesbia though 'tis death to meB
I cannot choose but look on theeB
But at the sight my senses flyD
I needs must gaze but gazing dieD
Whilst trembling with a thousand fearsA
Parch'd to the throat my tongue adheresA
My pulse beats quick my breath heaves shortE
My limbs deny their slight supportE
Cold dews my pallid face o'erspreadE
With deadly languor droops my headE
My ears with tingling echoes ringF
And Life itself is on the wingF
My eyes refuse the cheering lightE
Their orbs are veil'd in starless nightE
Such pangs my nature sinks beneathG
And feels a temporary deathH
