Toowoomba Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDCECEFGFG CHCHIJIJ

Dark purple chased with sudden gloom and gloryA
Like waves in wild unrestB
Low wooded billows and steep summits hoaryA
Ridge slope and mountain crestB
Cease at her feet with faces turned to meet herC
Enthroned apart sereneD
Above her vassal hills whose voices greet herC
The Mountain QueenD
Fair City unto whom as to a loverC
Our tender memories runE
Childhood and Springtide s careless hours are overC
And Summer days begunE
Behold amid what wealth of vine and meadowF
Thy maiden feet are setG
And on thy brow undimmed of care or shadowF
Thy civic coronetG
-
There have been dreams for thee by men who slumberC
Sound where no voice may reachH
Who ere they joined the host that none may numberC
Saw what they strove to teachH
The vision of a city wide and splendidI
Crowning the Range s wallJ
And o er thy sweeping plateau far extendedI
Welcome for allJ
