The Doves Of Venus Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDEFGFGHEHEIJKJ LMLN

The dull earth swung in silence o erA
A dreamless world a dreary starB
Until the doves of Venus boreC
To Thessaly her ivory carB
She whispered to the sea and airD
And lightly with her wand she smoteE
The solid earth till everywhereD
The birds gave forth a sweeter noteE
Whereat the sun did brighter shineF
More richly did the roses blowG
And like deep peace a joy divineF
Did fill the souls of men belowG
And still are showered her magic artsH
On man and maiden hand in handE
Who hear a music in their heartsH
Which none but they can understandE
A sweeter perfume sheds the roseI
A deeper azure tints the skyJ
And softly with the daylight s closeK
The doves of Venus hover nighJ
Thus oft to earth doth she returnL
To strip the scales from mortal eyesM
And sends us Love that we may learnL
How Earth may yet be ParadiseN
