The Dead Democrat Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDEEFFGG HHIIJJ

The roar and rush of life sweeps onA
Still shines the sun as once it shoneB
Men reap and sow and live and toilC
And plan for power and scheme for spoilC
What reeks the world in field or streetD
One heart has ceased to beatD
But She to whom in all the landsE
The toilers stretch beseeching handsE
Democracy the Soul of allF
Marks where her faithful servants fallF
They seek not things that others seekG
Who battle for the weakG
-
Her yoke is heavy to be borneH
Her bitter paths are choked with thornH
But glorious shines through mist and hazeI
The splendour of her coming daysI
Our loftiest tribute shall be thenJ
He served his fellow menJ
