Free is the wind that lashes into foamA
The fortress waves that gird the Sea King s homeA
And free the war worn Flag that is our fameB
That fear nor treason nor the Storm God s mightC
Nor the leagued banners of the World can shameB
When Britain arms for Honour and the RightC
And free the hearts that on this golden dayD
Bear willing witness to the Sea King s swayD
From world wide realms washed by the world wide seaE
They turn O Throne of Freedom unto TheeE
Homeward they turn from many a lonely placeF
Maker of Nations Mother of the RaceF
Homeward to Thee where in this solemn hourG
Of mightiest Empire Thou hast called once moreH
A Royal Son to wield Imperial powerG
And wear the crown that Saxon Alfred woreH
Sceptre and orb that a great Queen laid downI
Lustrous with wisdom foremost in renownI
Whilst o er them shone all glittering gems aboveJ
The Star of Duty and the Pearl of LoveJ
-
Europe is here and Asia and the WestK
Lifts mid the throng its dauntless Eagle s crestK
Lo They are gathered prince and peer and lordL
And great ambassadors of mighty StatesM
And utmost Nations not with naked swordL
But to do Britain honour in her gatesM
The splendour of this large historic hourG
This dazzling pageant of Imperial powerG
Surrounds a King whose proudest boast shall beE
The hearts that hail him Emperor of the FreeE
-
O Sire August within these Abbey wallsN
To thee the sacred dust of Britain callsN
To rule the realm that shook the strength of SpainO
And struck th accurs d fetter from the slaveP
That tore from Europe s neck the Despot s chainO
And for a pledge of Freedom o er the waveP
Has set its Flag forever not aloneQ
The fairest face that ever graced a throneQ
Queen of our Hearts is with Thee as we singR
An Empire s love is their s God Save the KingR
-
Unbar your ocean guarded gates make wideS
Your streets Imperial City of our PrideS
Hark with the voice of millions rolling deepT
The world salutes thee on this Royal mornU
Strong as thine island rock when surges sweepT
Thy throne stands steadfast round it there is bornU
The silent vow that prince and peasant makeV
Ere they go down to death for Freedom s sakeV
And dying know sons of their sons will beE
As swift to guard the Sceptre of the SeaE
-
O Pillars of an Empire dwarfing RomeA
From the four corners of the world you comeW
The strong Sea Lion calls around his throneQ
His ancient heirs his war worn younger sonsX
Bring Heath and Vine from hills of Southern stoneQ
And Myrtle where the twining rata runsX
Wreaths from our Empire Garden where betweenY
The purple Thistle and the Shamrock greenY
The snow white Lotus by the Maple showsZ
The yellow Wattle by the English RoseZ
-
This is a Southern Song blown overseaE
From mighty States now linked in unityE
From that far island continent that liesA2
Gigantic on the waters throned apartB2
Robed with the splendour of Australian skiesA2
First to draw sword when with a single heartB2
From every frontier line of Empire roseZ
New Britains armed to meet Britannia s foesZ
Whose voices thunder as the joy bells ringR
Loud from ten thousand spires God Save the KingR
