Two Lovers Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACC DEEDDD DDDDFF FEEGHH BEEBDD IDDDEE

Two lovers by a moss grown springA
They leaned soft cheeks together thereB
Mingled the dark and sunny hairB
And heard the wooing thrushes singA
O budding timeC
O love's blest primeC
-
Two wedded from the portal steptD
The bells made happy carolingsE
The air was soft as fanning wingsE
White petals on the pathway sleptD
O pure eyed brideD
O tender prideD
-
Two faces o'er a cradle bentD
Two hands above the head were lockedD
These pressed each other while they rockedD
Those watched a life that love had sentD
O solemn hourF
O hidden powerF
-
Two parents by the evening fireF
The red light fell about their kneesE
On heads that rose by slow degreesE
Like buds upon the lily spireG
O patient lifeH
O tender strifeH
-
The two still sat together thereB
The red light shone about their kneesE
But all the heads by slow degreesE
Had gone and left that lonely pairB
O voyage fastD
O vanished pastD
-
The red light shone upon the floorI
And made the space between them wideD
They drew their chairs up side by sideD
Their pale cheeks joined and said quot Once more quotD
O memoriesE
O past that isE
