The Shadow Of Night Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCCDDDEFGGHH IIJKLLMNOOPPQQRSTTUV

A
Fall Hercules from heaven in tempests hurl'dB
And cleanse this beastly stable of the worldB
Or bend thy brazen bow against the SunC
As in Tartessus when thou hadst begunC
Thy task of oxen heat in more extremesD
Than thou wouldst suffer with his envious beamsD
Now make him leave the world to Night and dreamsD
Never were virtue's labours so enviedE
As in this light shoot shoot and stoop his prideF
Suffer no more his lustful rays to getG
The Earth with issue let him still be setG
In Somnus' thickets bound about the browsH
With pitchy vapours and with ebon boughsH
-
Rich taper'd sanctuary of the blestI
Palace of Ruth made all of tears and restI
To thy black shades and desolat i onJ
I consecrate my life and living moanK
Where furies shall for ever fighting beL
And adders hiss the world for hating meL
Foxes shall bark and night ravens belch in groansM
And owls shall hollo my confus i onsN
There will I furnish up my funeral bedO
Strew'd with the bones and relics of the deadO
Atlas shall let th' Olympic burthen fallP
To cover my untombed face withalP
And when as well the matter of our kindQ
As the material substance of the mindQ
Shall cease their revolutions in abodeR
Of such impure and ugly periodS
As the old essence and insensive primeT
Then shall the ruins of the fourfold timeT
Turn'd to that lump as rapting torrents riseU
For ever murmur forth my miseriesV
