Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEEFFEEGGHHIIJJKK LLMMNNOOPCQQRRSSTTUU II

Sing sing my friend breathe life againA
Through Norway's song and Denmark's strainB
On flowing Thames and Forth in floodC
Pour Haco's war song fierce and rudeD
O'er England's strength through Scotland's coldE
His warrior minstrels marched of oldE
Called on the wolf and bird of preyF
To feast on Ireland's shore and bayF
And France thy forward knights and boldE
Rough Rollo's ravens croaked them coldE
Sing sing of earth and ocean's lordsG
Their songs as conquering as their swordsG
Strains steeped in many a strange beliefH
Now stern as steel now soft as griefH
Wild witching warlike brief sublimeI
Stamped with the image of their timeI
When chafed the call is sharp and highJ
For carnage as the eagles cryJ
When pleased the mood is meek and mildK
And gentle as an unweaned childK
Sing sing of haunted shores and shelvesL
St Oluf and his spiteful elvesL
Of that wise dame in true love needM
Who of the clear stream formed the steedM
How youthful Svend in sorrow sharpN
The inspired strings rent from his harpN
And Sivard in his cloak of feltO
Danced with the green oak at his beltO
Or sing the Sorceress of the woodP
The amorous Merman of the floodC
Or elves that o'er the unfathomed streamQ
Sport thick as motes in morning beamQ
Or bid me sail from Iceland IsleR
With Rosmer and fair EllenlyleR
What time the blood crow's flight was southS
Bearing a man's leg in its mouthS
Though rough and rude those strains are rifeT
Of things kin to immortal lifeT
Which touch the heart and tinge the cheekU
As deeply as divinest GreekU
In simple words and unsought rhymeI
Give me the songs of olden timeI
