January jumps aboutA
in the frying panB
trying to heatC
his frozen feetC
like a CanadianD
-
February scuttles underE
any dish's lidF
and she thinks she's dry because she'sG
thoroughly well hidF
but it still rains all month longH
and it always didF
-
March sits in the bath tubI
with the taps turned onJ
Hot and cold cold or notK
Has the Winter goneL
In like a lion out like a lambM
March on march on march onJ
-
April slips aboutA
sometimes indoorsN
and sometimes outA
sometimes sheltering from a littleO
shower of bright rainP
in an empty milk bottleO
then dashing out againQ
-
May she hides nowhereR
nowhere at allS
Proud as a peacockT
walking by a wallS
The Maytime O the MaytimeM
full of leaf and flowerE
The Maytime O the MaytimeM
is the loveliest of allS
-
June discards his shirt andU
trousers by the streamM
and takes the first dip of the yearV
into a jug of creamM
June is the gay timeM
of every girl and boyW
who run about and sing and shoutA
in pardonable joyW
-
July by the seaX
sits dabbling with sandY
letting it run out ofZ
her rather lazy handY
and sometimes she sadlyX
thinks As I sit hereA2
ah more than half the year is goneL
the evanescent yearV
-
August by an emperorE
was given his great nameM
It is gold and purpleO
like a Hall of FameM
I have known it rather coldB2
and wettish all the sameM
-
September lies in shadowsC2
of the fading summerE
hearing in the distanceD2
the silver horns of winterE
and not very far offE2
the coming autumn drummerE
-
October OctoberE
apples on the treeX
the Partridge in the Wood andU
the big winds at seaX
the mud beginning in the laneP
the berries bright and redF2
and the big tree wildlyX
tossing its old headF2
-
November when the firesG2
love to burn and leavesH2
flit about and fill the airR
where the old tree grievesH2
November NovemberE
its name is like a starI2
glittering on many things that wereE
but few things that areI2
-
Twelfth and last DecemberE
a few weeks awayJ2
we hear the silver bellsK2
of the stag and the sleighJ2
flying from the tundrasK2
far far awayJ2
bringing to us all the giftL2
of our Christmas DayJ2
