Love your neighbor as yourselfA
So the parson preachesB
That's one half the DecalogueC
So the Prayer book teachesD
Half my duty I can doE
With but little laborF
For with all my heart and soulG
I do love my neighborF
-
Mighty little credit thatH
To my self denialI
Not to love her though might beJ
Something of a trialI
Why the rosy light that peepsK
Through the glass above herF
Lingers round her lips you seeJ
E'en the sunbeams love herF
-
So to make my merit moreL
I'll go beyond the letterF
Love my neighbor as myselfA
Yes and ten times betterF
For she's sweeter than the breathM
Of the Spring that passesD
Through the fragrant budding woodsN
O'er the meadow grassesD
-
And I've preached the word I knowO
For it was my dutyJ
To convert the stubborn heartP
Of the little beautyJ
Once again success has crownedQ
Missionary laborF
For her sweet eyes own that sheJ
Also loves her neighborF
