Rhyme Scheme: ABCBCCDC CEFEGHIH JKFKCLFM HNONGPQP

The d butantes are in force to nightA
Sweet as their roses pure as truthB
Dreams of beauty in clouds of tulleC
Blushing fair in their guileless youthB
Flashing bright glances carelesslyC
Carelessly think you Wait and seeC
How their sweetest smile is kept for himD
Whom mother considers a good partiC
-
For the matrons watch and guard them wellC
Little for youth or love care theyE
The man they seek is the man with goldF
Though his heart be black and his hair be grayE
Nellie how could you treat him soG
You know very well he is Goldmore's heirH
Jennie look modest Glance down and blushI
Here comes papa with young MillionaireH
-
On a cold gray rock in Grecian seasJ
The sirens sit and their glamour tryK
Warm white bosoms press harps of goldF
The while Ulysses' ship sails byK
Fair are the forms the sailors seeC
Sweet are the songs the sailors hearL
And cool and wary shrewd and oldF
The sirens' mothers are watching nearM
-
Whispering counsel Fling back your hairH
It hides your shoulder Don't sing so fastN
Darling don't look at that fair young manO
Try that old fellow there by the mastN
His arms are jewelled let it goG
Too bitter all this for an idle rhymeP
But sirens are kin of the gods be sureQ
And change but little with lapse of timeP
