Chivalrie Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IBIB

Under the maple boughs we satA
Annie Leslie and I togetherB
She was trimming her sea side hatA
With leaves we talked about the weatherB
-
The sun beams lit her gleaming hairC
With rippling waves of golden gloryD
And eyes of blue and ringlets fairC
Suggested many an ancient storyD
-
Of fair haired blue eyed maids of oldE
In durance held by grim magiciansF
Of knights in armor rough with goldE
Who rescued them from such positionsF
-
Above the heavens aglow with lightG
Beneath our feet the sleeping oceanH
E'en as the sky my hope was brightG
Deep as the sea was my devotionH
-
Her father's voice came through the woodI
He'd made a fortune tanning leatherB
I was his clerk I thought it goodI
To keep on talking about the weatherB
