Sirmio Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAABCD EFGHAIAJ

Sirmio you jewel of all peninsulasA
and all the islands of the crystal lakesA
and the great oceans Neptune circlesA
how delightedly how gladly I returnB
hardly believing myself I ve safely leftC
Thynia and those Black Sea shores behindD
-
What is better than to be free from careE
when the mind throws off its load and at lastF
from foreign journeys we reach our own homeG
sink back to rest on the one bed we longed forH
This is reward enough for all our effortsA
You welcome sight O lovely Sirmio be happyI
and you too Lydian Lake Garda s watersA
laugh with whatever gleaming laughter you haveJ
